TLDR: Alabama football, well, it sure had its share of snapping troubles this season. Them issues showed their ugly heads during the Rose Bowl, costing Alabama a shot at the championship. With center Seth McLaughlin hitchin’ a ride to Ohio State, and a new coach and offensive line leader, Chris Kapilovic, arriving on the scene, the Crimson Tide’s got a fresh slate ahead of ‘em. Kapilovic’s been preaching the value of good snapping to the press, don’t ya know. He ain’t watched last year’s film yet but insists on training plenty of linemen at snapping. He learned the hard way when centers went missin’ in a blink of an eye once upon a time. So now, Alabama’s lookin’ to put those snapping woes in the past and roll forwards with a sharpened focus on this vital gridiron skill.
Well, fellow Alabama fans, it seems like we’ve been put through the wringer this past season with a pile of snapping headaches. If you were sittin’ there wondering if them snap issues couldn’t get worse, the Rose Bowl showed us otherwise. Our beloved Crimson Tide lost that game, sealing our fate in the College Football Playoff. We sure do have some fresh challenges to face—a new coach and new offense line to boot!
As many of y’all know, our center Seth McLaughlin has packed his bags and scooted on over to Ohio State. It sure left us with a hole to fill in our offensive line. But don’t draw the curtain just yet, ‘cause Chris Kapilovic from Baylor’s now in charge of rightin’ this ship. New coach Kalen DeBoer went and brought him in, intendin’ to rebuild with fresh, homegrown talent that’ll have us yellin’ “Roll Tide!” with pride.
Kapilovic, bless his football-lovin’ heart, took to the press in Tuscaloosa not long ago with a plan to turn things around. Now, he hadn’t peeked at last year’s films of the muddled snaps quite yet, but believe you me, the man knows of the issues. His approach? Kapilovic’s all about trainin’ folks year-round in the art of snapping, and he don’t mess around. Just like he said, he grades them linemen every day, charting every single snap—that’s dedication, folks.
Now, here’s where it gets downright interesting: Kapilovic believes you can never have too many guys learnin’ to snap. He’ll train up to 8 or 10 fellas on it, ‘cause, as he rightly put it, the more the merrier. And it’s a useful skill for that NFL future too, ya see. To support this approach, he mentioned how once he lost a gaggle of centers in one fell swoop. That’s when he vowed never to be caught short like that again.
The road ahead ain’t no cakewalk, but us Tide fans know there’s always hope on the horizon. With Kapilovic at the wheel, let’s cross our fingers and hope we can bury our snap troubles for good—so when college Saturdays roll back around, we’ll be ready to roll right on back down football’s golden lane!
