Michigan Football Secures Top Transfers

TLDR: The University of Michigan Football team has bolstered its roster by adding two key players from the transfer portal. On February 8th, the Wolverines announced the signings of linebacker Jaishawn Barham and offensive lineman Josh Priebe. Both players have enrolled at Michigan and are set to participate in spring training. Head Coach Sherrone Moore expressed enthusiasm, noting their extensive Big Ten experience. Barham, entering his junior year, joins from Maryland, where he earned All-Big Ten honorable mention and clocked 95 tackles over two seasons. His freshman year saw him lead Big Ten freshmen with 58 tackles, earning Freshman All-American recognition. Priebe, a seasoned contributor at Northwestern and Edwardsburg native, returns to his home state as a graduate student. Known for his leadership, he served as Northwestern’s team captain last year, with accolades including All-Big Ten third team and Academic All-Big Ten honors for three consecutive years. This move signifies Michigan’s aim to maintain competitive strength by integrating battle-tested athletes into their lineup ahead of the Spring.

In a strategic move to fortify their team, the Michigan Wolverines football program has added two notable players from the transfer portal to their 2024 lineup. Announced on February 8th, the Wolverines have acquired linebacker Jaishawn Barham from Maryland and offensive lineman Josh Priebe from Northwestern. These additions come as Head Coach Sherrone Moore prepares the team for the upcoming spring practices. Both have a history of significant contributions in the Big Ten and are anticipated to bring invaluable game experience to Michigan’s squad.

Jaishawn Barham is set to join Michigan as a junior this fall, bringing with him an impressive record from his tenure at Maryland. Barham was recognized as an All-Big Ten honorable mention in both 2022 and 2023. With 95 tackles to his name over the course of his 23 games, he has shown remarkable prowess as a linebacker. His performance as a freshman was particularly notable, leading all Big Ten freshmen in tackles, which earned him Freshman All-American status. His track record of aggressive defense includes several sacks and tackles for loss, indicating he’ll be a formidable asset for Michigan’s defense.

Hailing from Edwardsburg, Michigan, Josh Priebe is no stranger to the Wolverine State and returns as a seasoned graduate student. Over four years with Northwestern, Priebe became a cornerstone of their offensive line, serving as team captain in 2023. He started in the majority of his 36 games, primarily excelling at left guard. His leadership and skill earned him an All-Big Ten third team accolade and multiple Academic All-Big Ten honors. Integrating Priebe’s experience and skillset into Michigan’s game plan will likely strengthen their offensive line as they venture into spring training with renewed vigor.
