Longhorns Snag 2025 Lineman Commitment

TLDR: The Texas Longhorns football program successfully landed a commitment from three-star offensive lineman John Mills for their 2025 recruiting class. John Mills, a 6-foot-6, 320-pound prospect from St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, selected Texas over other programs including Washington, Florida, California, and Nebraska. This addition makes Mills the twelfth player to join Texas’s 2025 class and the fourth offensive lineman. In composite ratings from 247Sports, Mills is ranked as the 40th top offensive tackle prospect in the nation and 43rd overall in the state of California. Accompanying Mills in the class are other pledges from tackles Jordan Coleman and interior linemen Jackson Christian and Devin Coleman. As of now, Texas’s class ranks 16th nationally as they gear up to compete in the SEC. Currently without a five-star recruit in this class, the Longhorns hope to enhance their rank with significant talent commitments in upcoming months. This follows Texas’s past strong performances, securing the No. 6 class in 2024 and No. 3 in 2023. Meanwhile, they faced a setback with a recent withdrawal of 2026’s four-star running back Raycine Guillory Jr.’s commitment.

The Texas Longhorns made a significant stride in their 2025 recruiting class by securing a commitment from promising three-star offensive lineman John Mills. Hailing from St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco, Mills had a spectrum of college options but ultimately chose Texas over notable programs such as Washington, Florida, California, and Nebraska. At 6-foot-6 and weighing 320 pounds, Mills brings considerable size and potential to the Longhorns’ lineup.

Mills becomes the twelfth prospect to make a pledge in Texas’s 2025 class, further strengthening their goals on the field. His commitment adds to the growing number of offensive linemen in the class, with him being the fourth overall. According to 247Sports’ composite ratings, Mills shines as the nation’s 40th-ranked offensive tackle prospect and is the 43rd overall recruit out of California. These accolades highlight his talent and the promising future he brings to the team.

Texas’s recruiting class, currently holding the 16th national ranking, aims to improve its standing as the Longhorns transition into the competitive SEC landscape. Despite not yet securing a five-star recruit for the 2025 intake, the Longhorns are optimistic about future commitments that typically arise during the bustling summer recruitment period. Their past successes paint a hopeful picture: the Longhorns achieved the No. 6 ranked class in 2024 and the third overall in 2023.

Notably, the program is moving forward amidst a recent development where they lost a 2026 commitment from four-star running back Raycine Guillory Jr. Nonetheless, as Texas gears up to challenge powerhouse teams like Georgia and Alabama in the SEC, they focus on maintaining and advancing their recruiting efforts. The team’s strategic focus remains on drawing in top-tier talent and building robust rosters for future seasons.
