The game, watched by an enthusiastic crowd of 102,811 fans, was a showcase of Texas’ trademark defensive prowess and their tenacity on the ground. The Longhorns rushed for a thrilling season-high of 251 yards to secure a 31-14 victory against the Wildcats.
Quintrevion Wisner was a standout on that field, bless his heart, racking up 158 yards and scoring twice. Meanwhile, Jaydon Blue wasn’t far behind, charging downfield for 96 yards and a touchdown on just 15 carries. Their powerful ground game clearly outplayed Kentucky, who were restricted to a meager 21 rushing yards, sharply below their typical 157.1 yards. Texas’ defensive line was on fire, tying a season-high with six sacks and engaging in 11 tackles for loss.
Now y’all, talk about a fabulous defense - Jelani McDonald snagged his first career interception in the first half, continuing the Longhorns’ impressive streak of snatching turnovers in 19 straight games. Andrew Mukuba also caught us a late-game interception, marking another game where Texas secured multiple picks. Quarterback Quinn Ewers kept fans thrilled by tossing 191 yards and connecting with Gunnar Helm for two touchdowns. His streak of games with a touchdown pass is now at 22, almost as long as the Rio Grande.
Kimberly overheard some chatter about Helm’s performance, having caught five passes for 51 yards and all receiving touchdowns. Matthew Golden led the night with seven catches, amassing 86 yards.
