Recap: Crimson Tide's Late Showdown Surge

Alabama 42, South Florida 16

TLDR: In a captivating Saturday night game, Alabama’s Jalen Milroe led a thrilling late-game rally as the Crimson Tide secured a 42-16 victory over South Florida. The game, which started with the Tide struggling against the Bulls, saw Alabama unable to create a significant lead until the final ten minutes of play. Alabama’s new coach, Kalen DeBoer, saw his team unleash an impressive 28-point barrage to close out the game. Milroe, after a shaky start with penalties and fumbles, delivered two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter, solidifying the win. The Bulls held their ground against the Tide’s offense throughout much of the game, challenging Alabama’s resolve. Despite early setbacks, including three fumbles, Alabama demonstrated their grit and championship caliber, with key contributions from Jamarion Miller and Justice Haynes, who both added crucial late touchdowns. The game was far from flawless for the Crimson Tide, but the dynamic fourth-quarter surge reassured fans of their resilience and firepower.

Well, folks, gather ‘round and let ol’ Bruce tell you ‘bout what went down on Saturday night, a good ol’ classic gridiron matchup between Alabama and South Florida. Jalen Milroe and the Crimson Tide found themselves in quite a pickle for a good 50 minutes. Weren’t until the slip-ups dwindled that the fun got rolling for Alabama.

Milroe, he’s a force of nature, ran in two touchdowns on his own and tossed a pair right there in the fourth quarter. The Crimson Tide, sitting at rank four, finally broke free from the Bulls to snag a 42-16 win. The game had folks on edge, I’ll tell ya.

Now, Alabama, they came in hot, 30 points predicted ahead of the South Florida Bulls. But life ain’t easy, and neither was this game for ‘em. Under the watchful eye of new coach Kalen DeBoer, Alabama found themselves struggling to get their offence kicking until late in the fight.

Coach DeBoer once said, “In the fourth quarter, staying away from the penalties and turnovers, it’s amazing what can happen.” Sure ‘nough, his team proved it right then and there. Up until the fourth, Tide was clinging onto a mere 14-13 lead, thanks to a heap of penalties and three costly fumbles.

Then Milroe, that fella, launched passes of 16 yards to Kobe Prentiss and another 43 to Ryan Williams in the fourth. In the last minutes, Jamarion Miller and Justice Haynes took off for touchdowns, solidifying the Tide’s victory. Miller wrapped up the night with 140 yards rushing.

The Bulls gave Alabama a run for their money, though. Much like the previous year when Milroe was benched, this year they kept the Tide workin’ hard. Coached by Alex Golesh, South Florida nearly kept Alabama’s offense checked, but the Tide didn’t back down.

Now Milroe, he ain’t no stranger to a challenge. Last year, after sitting out against these Bulls, went on to nail 10 wins and secure a Southeastern Conference title. This fella knows how to carry a team on his back.

By game’s end, Alabama had turned on the jets and showed the kind of grit us Alabamians love ‘bout our team. Milroe steadied himself, faced the blitzes, and shone brightly, even if took him some blood, sweat, and tears in the process. Coz that’s the Alabama way. Roll Tide, y’all!
