ChatGPT Simulation: Michigan vs Alabama 2024

As the Michigan Wolverines prepare to face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2024 Rose Bowl, anticipation is at an all-time high. We asked ChatGPT to simulate the 4 quarters of the Rose Bowl game and see who it thinks will win the game based on each teams stats and attributes. Here’s what we got!

1st Quarter

As the 2024 Rose Bowl kicked off, the excitement was palpable. Both the Michigan Wolverines and the Alabama Crimson Tide looked ready for a classic showdown. The Wolverines started with the ball, and Michigan’s JJ McCarthy did not disappoint the fans. He utilized his exceptional improvisational skills, scrambling to keep plays alive, and it paid off when he connected with Wilson for a 30-yard gain after evading a near sack. Consistent rushing efforts by Corum moved the chains, but the Wolverines had to settle for a field goal after the Tide’s defense tightened in the red zone. Alabama’s offense, spearheaded by the now confident Milroe, answered with an impressive drive mixing up handoffs to McClellan and sharp passes to Burton. The highlight was a 40-yard deep ball to Burton that set up a 5-yard McClellan touchdown run. Michigan responded by pushing downfield with Corum breaking free for a hefty run but again had to settle for a field goal as the first quarter ended with Alabama leading 7-6.

2nd Quarter

The second quarter started with Alabama taking a risky but successful fourth-down conversion deep in their own territory, showing their aggressive approach and confidence in Milroe’s arm. It proved fruitful, as Alabama then orchestrated a balanced attack which culminated in Milroe tossing a spectacular 25-yard touchdown to a wide-open Burton in the endzone. Michigan, not to be outdone, launched a counter-assault. McCarthy found a rhythm, culminating in a play-action fake that saw Wilson take a catch over the middle and turn it into a 55-yard touchdown. The quarter was characterized by strategic maneuvering, with Michigan’s persistent ground game and Alabama’s air assault. Alabama managed one more field goal, making the halftime score Alabama 17, Michigan 13.

3rd Quarter

Coming out of halftime, both teams’ defenses stepped up the intensity. Michigan’s defense started to clamp down on the running lanes, stifling McClellan and forcing Alabama to take to the air. However, Milroe was met with a reinforced secondary, and Michigan’s adjustments led to the first turnover of the game—a big interception that turned the momentum in favor of the Wolverines. Capitalizing on the turnover, McCarthy led a methodical drive that mixed quick outs and slants with hard-nosed running by Corum. The tenacious running back found the endzone with a 12-yard burst, giving Michigan its second lead of the game. Michigan 20, Alabama 17.

4th Quarter

While Alabama tried to reply, the only score they could muster in a defensive struggle of a 4th quarter was a 45-yard field goal with 6 minutes left that tied up the game at 20. Alabama attempted an on-side kick which Michigan recovered, which led to Michigan running up the middle 4 continuous times, getting Michigan in position for a winning field goal. Michigan’s final play was Corum running a counter to the right to try and set-up an easier field goal from the Alabama 32 yard line, but a hole appeared and Corum ran for a touchdown with 14 seconds remaining. On the kickoff, Alabama attempted a hook and ladder strategy to try and get a score, but it ended at the Alabama 40 yard line when the ball was fumbled out of bounds.

Final - Michigan 27, Alabama 20
